Regarde: the middle row from a Toyota Sienna. Achieves separate adjustment, self-contained belting, and the advantages of a split bench. I’ve been trying to come up with something that equals this for the price, and I haven’t found it - as far as I can tell this is it.

those armrests are a nice touch too. They would be okay in yours because it is going to be totally non stock anything. Is the width anywhere close to what you need?

Depends on the car, they look very wide. There’s also something with the armrests that may not look quite right.
Edit, they’re also not flat enough, but I’m not sure that would be that big an issue.

Width is supposedly 54”. Probably will *just* fit. Worst case, the outer armrests wouldn’t. I actually stumbled into these by accident looking at the split bench some earlier Siennas have in the third row... which is a cheaper alternative to the split bench from an FJ40. The FJ40 seat is fairly ideal, but hideously expensive and doesn’t offer any kind of support. For reference, the original bench looks like this:
(Mine is actually tan). Incredibly heavy, with minimal adjustment or anything nice.

You could have the 40/20/40 seat from my F-150. That would make a little more sense...

What about a cloth third-row split-bench from a Gen 1 Sienna? It would visually fit better, and has some neat patterning.

I think it would, as long as the interior colors are close. I would just color the red release buttons so they don’t stand out.

The original bench looks like this, but the one I’ve got is very ratty. The width of the Sienna seat quoted by one source was 54”, which is 1” less than the rear axle hub face-hub face. It either fits as-is or would fit without the outer armrests - I think.

That’s actually what I started thinking about, but the hinges are huge on it and weird looking. I ended up looking at the 60/40 third row from a gen 2 Sienna, but that has some other issues. The nice thing about the second-row from the current gen is the level of support and such things as leather being available, or leather + cloth.

it would be kind of sweet to have pseudo “captains chairs” in there, but the inboard armrest is the only thing I really need in my life. There is a window on the other side... Interesting though. One thing to consider is if those seatbelts are pretensioner loaded. I mean, the 3 points are going to be miles above a lap belt, but you would only be using the mechanical backup reel tensioners if you needed them

Eh, It’s kind of awkward. My family has a previous gen odyssey and the bolstering of the captains chairs makes it kind tough.

Hmm, maybe. I’ll add it to the list. I’m torn on the issue of bolstering - I want benchitiness, but I’m not sold on sliding across the car in turns or ruining my back on trips.

I’ve been in the third row of one of these on an extended trip. The bolstering isn’t too much of an issue, and the seats are one of the comfier minivan benches. It just seems that the bench from the third-gen Sienna is a bit clunky and would look out of place in a classic.

Right, the newer ones in question have armests and some bolstering. Most old cars that have buckets, like yours, also have a center consol and are apparently narrower. My concerns are purely visual, that they may just look too wide. Only way to know for sure though is to do it. Surely there’s a wrecked minivan in a junkyard near you, should be cheap enough to try it out (seats are $20 or $30 at my local yard, depending on if they’re power).

Yeah, the integrated 3-pts is a really nice feature of the seats you first posted. Even if they don’t exactly “work” that makes things a lot easier.

Good call, I assume being a minivan it’s easily removable. Then you won’t be stuck with the seats if you don’t like them.

Also, being a minivan middle row, it has an adaptable structure and probably doesn’t weigh a huge amount. That’s one of the problems with the original bench - it weighs I think ~150lb. That’s past 5% of the curb weight of the car, for pity’s sake.

It’s actually only the 2015-on that’s striated horizontally. The ones before are vertically-lined, and there are covers available.
This is one of the more common setups - cloth on leather rather than whole-leather. Since I’m going to be putting a jumpseat in the back, having a seat that doesn’t look too far off from a Smittybilt is a plus.
